About Aguadilla

Aguadilla is where the highway from San Juan finally lets go and the coast takes over. Crash Boat Beach — with its painted fishing boats and old pier pilings — is the town's most recognizable spot, but Playa Wilderness and the cliffs near El Faro de Borinquen deliver the kind of wide, raw Atlantic the north coast is known for.

In winter, the swells bring surfers from across the island and beyond. Las Cascadas water park gives families a different kind of day, and the small downtown around the plaza is unhurried in the way the west coast tends to be. Aguadilla rewards an early start: the light on the water before noon is the reason people keep coming back.

Local Gem

Get to Crash Boat before 9am on a Saturday. The light, the boats, the locals fishing off the pier — that's the version of the beach I love.

Anyone know if Las Cascadas is open weekdays in spring? Trying to plan a family day.
