About Ponce
Ponce wears its history on the outside. The black-and-red Parque de Bombas is the town's calling card, but the streets around Plaza Las Delicias are a tour through neoclassical and creole architecture that ran on sugar money in the 19th century. Catedral Nuestra Señora de la Guadalupe centers the plaza, and on weekends families spill across it the way they have for generations.
A short drive uphill brings you to Castillo Serrallés and the Cruceta del Vigía, with views over the city and the Caribbean. The Museo de Arte de Ponce holds one of the most important art collections in the Caribbean, and at the coast, the La Guancha boardwalk delivers the south coast's signature combination — kioskos, music, and water. Ponce is proud and unhurried, and it shows.
