About Coamo
Coamo was founded in 1579 and for centuries its valley's thermal waters were advertised as a cure — Eleanor Roosevelt and other famous visitors came to bathe here. Today the Baños de Coamo are still open: a natural hot mineral pool in a historic parador, surrounded by mountains and old trees.
Iglesia San Blas, the colonial plaza, and 1700-1800s houses give the town historical character. Every February, the San Blas Half Marathon brings more than ten thousand runners — one of the oldest, most beloved races in Puerto Rico. Outside the event, Coamo is a south-central town with dry heat, deep history, and baths that have served people for centuries.

MemoryMy dad ran the Half Marathon fifteen years in a row. Every February we'd come up to Coamo as a whole family. The packed plaza, the runners, the kioskos — that's ritual.
