About Aibonito
Aibonito sits at about 720 meters of elevation — enough for the thermometer to fall 6 to 8 degrees below the coast, and enough for the air to feel different. The town takes pride in its climate and, above all, in its flowers: the Festival de las Flores every June turns the center into a market of farms, demonstrations, and a packed plaza — one of the oldest botanical events in the Caribbean.
Next to town sits the San Cristóbal Canyon — a natural canyon 200 meters deep, with waterfalls, tropical vegetation, and routes for hiking and rappelling. Aibonito is where Puerto Ricans come to breathe — eat fresh strawberries, buy flowers, feel the cold, and head back to the coast smelling like the mountains.
