About San Lorenzo

San Lorenzo lies in eastern Puerto Rico, between Caguas and Yabucoa, where the Cordillera Central meets the Sierra de Cayey. The town is famous for its breadfruit — climate and altitude make local pana legendary. It's also a cradle of traditional Puerto Rican mavi and of religious festivals with deep devotion to Saint Lawrence the Martyr. Mountain roads, clean rivers for bathing, and a colonial town center with a historic plaza make San Lorenzo an authentic destination most Puerto Ricans know but few tourists visit.

Food Spot

The best breadfruit I've eaten in my life was at a small spot in San Lorenzo. Roasted in a wood-fired oven, wrapped in plantain leaf. My mom cried when she tasted it because it reminded her of her grandmother.

Local Gem

Bathe in the Espíritu Santo River in August, cool water, no crowds. Then head up to the plaza for a cold mavi. That's San Lorenzo's essence.
