About Ceiba
Ceiba sits on Puerto Rico's east coast, just south of Fajardo. For decades the economy revolved around Roosevelt Roads Naval Station, one of the Caribbean's largest. When it closed in 2004 the town had to reinvent itself. Today the official ferries to Vieques and Culebra leave from the Ceiba terminal — far less congested than Fajardo. Quiet beaches, mangroves at Punta Diamante Natural Reserve, and the feel of a town discovering its next identity.

MemoryI grew up when Roosevelt Roads was still open. My dad worked there. Watching the town change after the closure was hard, but now I see new life — people heading to the islands, new restaurants.

Local GemTip for Vieques: leave from Ceiba, not Fajardo. Fewer people, better parking, and the ferry runs more on time.
